FRA contributes to the call for evidence for the European affordable housing plan

FRA has submitted a contribution to the call for evidence of the European Commission for the European affordable housing plan. President von der Leyen announced in the Political Guidelines 2024-2029 that the new European Commission will put forward the first-ever European Affordable Housing Plan.

The housing plan will address the urgent housing crisis facing millions of families and young people across the EU, who are unable to access appropriate housing at an affordable price. FRA welcomes the European affordable housing plan initiative and submitted a compilation of FRA survey data and other research findings relating to the housing situation of persons at risk of discrimination, poverty or social exclusion including Roma and Travellers, other ethnic or visible minorities, immigrants and descendants of immigrants, beneficiaries of international protection, members of specific religious communities, such as Muslim and Jews, as well as LGBTIQ persons.
